WELLINGTON COLLEGE OLD BOYS
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Wellington College Old Boys’ Association, was held last night, Mr W. L. Meek presiding. , The annual report stated 1 that the .finances of the association were in a satisfactory position, there being a credit balance of .£93 13s 3d, of which ,£SO is on fixed deposit. In the past year the receipts .exceeded tbo expenditure by <£3s 9s lid. The membership of the Association now stands at 786, 198 of the number being life members. A swimming club known as the Old Boys’ Club, had been started and already proved very successful. In moving tho adoption of the report and balance-sheet the chairman congratulated the association on ffho good work done, and referred to the English public schools reunion which ho had attended at Palmerston North. He hoped that tho secretary of that body would be invited to attend the association’s gatherings. Mr Fleming, who seconded the .motion, urged tho committee to keep Well in view the question of the association obtaining representation on the College Board of Governors. On the motion of Mr Denton it was resolved to place an additional <£3o in, the reserve fund.
The secretary was instructed to forward to Mr and Mrs J. P. Firth, w’ho are on a trip to , Europe, the hearty good wishes of the association.
The customary donations To various college funds were approved. Tho election of officers resulted ns follows: —President, Dr Young; hon. secretary, W. W. Cook; hon. treasurer, A. Shearer; hon. auditor, W. H. Morrah; committee, W. E. Bethune, W. H. Denton, B. St. G. Bcere, J. L. Palethorpe, T. M- Grace, G. Lyon, W. H. Steinton, and secretaries of the football, cricket, and swimming clubs. Votes of thanks to the retiring officers and the chairman terminated the meeting.
