EXHIBITION MATCH
WALLINGFORD’S TARGET.
An interesting event yesterday afternoon was the exhibition of musketry' by Lieutenant Wallingford, 'of the New Zealand staff corps and formerly 1 of the Hytho School of Musketry. Lieutenant AVallingford is one of the best shots in •the world; and an acknowledged authoty on musketry, science. He- rather opened the eyes of the spectators when he fired off eleven rounds at the running man before that much-potted figure had completed half of his jourrley. The running man makes a journey out and back again, and during the outward and-re-turn trip competitors must get seven shots away. It is thought to be satisfactory' work if four of these shots are fired off during the outward trip, leaving three for the return j but Wallingford not only got the whole of his eleven rounds away during the outward trip but scored six hits —all in a dead line, as is seen on the target. It was a remarkable piece of shooting in every way.
