JOTTINGS
Xtt order that the public mar witness tho contest for the King's Prize this afternoon and the presentation of trophies a special train will leave Lambton station at 1.50 p.m., and will arrive at Trentham at 2.50 o'clock. Tho return train will depart from Trentham at 5.50 and will arrive at Jjambton at 0.47.
Prizes won during tho meeting are to be presented to-day by Lady Ward. It j^expectcd-that
Major-General God Icy and staff jyill be present at the ceremony. If, as is anticipated. General Godley visits the ranve this morning, it is probable that he will confer with the representatives of the rifle clubs regarding the constitution of tho Dominion Rifle Association. . Mr W. C. Ga-squome, of Wellington, has donated a five-guinea cheque to the prize fund of the Dominion Rifle Association and this sum was added to the prize money for tho Champion Team Match. For this event there were five prizes: X'lo, X 6, X 5, X 4, and X 3, making a total of X2B. Marksmen w'ho have obtained a “buU’s-cve every time” will probably not feel pleased at the announcement that no possible prizes are to be presented this year. That the present is more of a nfle clubman’s meeting than anything else is proved by the fact that tho proportion of men from clubs to territorials participating is about two to one. Tho prize money in the Champion Team Match was allocated as follows: First XlO, second XC, third Xo, fourth XL fifth X 3. , ’ The Onaki Club wins the District Challenge Shield, holding the trophy for twelve months.
