MAGISTRATE'S COURT
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9. (Before Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M.) THEFT. Frederick William Meyer, on a charge of theft of 2s 6d, the property of Henry Thompson, wan fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Accused was ordered to pay Bs, witnesses' expenses. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. John Broadbent Hall appeared on remand charged with having used obscene language on the Queen’s wharf on tho 6th inst. As he had been in custody since .Wednesday'ho was convicted and discharged, but ho was ordered to pay witnesses’ expenses,'® 4a each. DRUNKENNESS. Joseph Barker was fined Ids, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment, and Elizabeth twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. John Samuel Taylor was fined £2 for the breach of a prohibition order, and was convicted and discharged for insobriety. ■ John ilcMullan was convicted and dis. charged for drunkenness, but for resisting Constable Archibald he was fined £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Throe first offenders were convicted and discharged.
