INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL
SET UP BY BOARD OF TRADE TO INQUIRE INTO LABOUR DISPUTES. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received October 11, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, October 11. After consulting a number of representatives of employers and workmen the Board of Trado has established an Industrial Council of twenty-six members, comprising an equal number of employers and workmen, bolding office for a year, to inquire into trado disputes. The council lias no compulsory powers. Members representing the shipping, mining, metals, printing, railways, cotton, engineering, building, textile, transport, and other trades havo already been appointed, with Sir G. It, Askwith as chairman. The council includes Mr T. L. Devitt, the presidents of various masters’ associations, Mr A. Henderson (Labour M.P. for Durham), Mr T. Burt (Liberal M.P. for Morpeth, a veteran trades and other leading trade union officials.
