Mr B. B. Morris, who has been actingchief postmaster in Christchurch since January, succeeds to the position vice Mr S. J. Stevens, retired (says a Press Association telegram from Christchurch). Mr Morris has been in tho postal service for tho past thirty-five years, joining in Timaru in 1875. Ho practically served hie apprenticeship in Christchurch, and was transferred to Auckland in 18S9, and from there to Wellington three years later. Ho was retransferred to Christchurch in 500-1 to take the position of chief clerk. In 190 Sho was appointed assistaut-postmaster at Wellington, and in the following year he was made inspector of savings banks. Mr Morns has gone through ail the 4 branches of tho postal service, in which he has always been one of tho most popular of officers. ■ Mr It. S. Jennings has been nominated as the candidate' for the Now Zealand Rhodes scholarship. At Nelson College h© was head of the school during his last year, for several years was captain of the cricket eleven and also captain of tho Nelson representative team, a member of the football fifteen, and captain of the cadets. He left Nelson in 1906 with a junior scholarship to continue his studies at Canterbury College, where his career has been equally brilliant. In games he has shown up principally as a tennis player. In his academic career he is a Master 4 of Science, with second-class honours in mathematics, and as a still further recommendation ho has been appointed locum tonens to Dr Chilton during tho latter's stay in England.
