The Dunedin Jockey Club's spring meeting ■was commenced t 0-dar in beautifully fine weather. Considering that it was not a holiday the attendance was good. The patrol stewards reported R. H. Ellis, rider of Adjudge, for crossing in the Electric Handicap, and after hearing the evidence of the boy and rider of Clanraena, it was decided to caution Ellis and inform him that in the event of a similar thing again happening his riding license would be cancelled. Thistledown was first to break the line, and Adjudge was a bit slow on his logsClaiimona stumbled going along the back, and dropped behind half a dozen lengths. In tho run home Thistledown won by three lengths from Adjudge, who beat Stepmeter by a similar distance. Time, Imin 15 3-ssec. TAIOMA HANDICAP, Of 100 sovs; six furlongs.

Talcoho got a shade the best of the start, and ran round the fur turn a length clear of Larkspur. The field closed up going uphill. Larkspur took charge at the inside distance, and John Bunyan joined tho leaders, and wearing down Contendent, who had rnn into the lead, won by a short head, Larkspur being next. Time, Imin 17sec. OCTOBER WELTER HANDICAP, Of 125 sovs; one mile.
