The troops were supported by a warship, which bombarded the coast. Tho fighting lasted ten hours. Tho Spanish losses wero heavy. Tho object of tho advance was to seize important strategical positions before tho winter.

Public .opinion is showing renewed impatience at the slowness of the Moroccan negotiations/ The delay is tending towards tho growth of sentiment against giving Germany compensations in tlie Congo. BERLIN, October 10. The pan-German press is urging tho Government to seize a favourable opportunity to break off negotiations concerning Morocco, declaring that Britain, being embarrassed over Tripoli, would he unable to aid France.
