DANCE AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE
A small dance was given last evening at Government House. His Elxcellency tho Governor and Lady Isiingtpn entercd the ball-room at half-past eight, and dancing then began. Tho ball-room looked very bright with its decorations of yellow broom and effective groupings of arum lilies. Lady Islington wore a beautiful gown of white satin trimmed with flounces ot wide slver and crystal fringe, a diamond tiara and necklace. , Miss Stapleton Cottpn, a. very handsome French grey satin with overdress trimmed with silver embroidery. Mrs Guise, Empire gown of cream satin veiled with violet. Lady Williams, oyster grey charmeuse", overdress ninon edged with silver- . , , . Mrs Godley, white satin with crystal and silver embroideries. Mrs IV. Barton (Featherston), white satin with beautiful lace panels. Mrs Godfrey Pharazyn (Hastings), white brocade with pink floral design veiled in ninon edged with pink roses. Mrs Hume, maize charmeuse with a beautiful overdress of lace. Mrs Ziman, black satin charmeuse, diamond ornaments. Miss Ziman (debutante), pretty gown of white charmeuse trimmed with pearls and crystal. Miss E. Ward, . beautiful gown of oeriso charmeuse with short violet tunic edgqd with silver embroidery.-, Mrs Dymock, wodgewootj blue charmeuse, tunic of embossed net. Mrs Fisher, rose pink satin. Miss Gore,, cream satin, overdress of tangerine ninon. •'Miss Cooper, white satin with net tunic embossed in blue.

Mrs A. Abbott, pale blue satin with tunic of ninon. edged with gold. , Mrs Myers (Auckland), pale blue- satin with beaded overdress.
