Mi- and Mrs W. Barton (Featherston) are on a visit to' Wellington. Miss Frater (Auckland) is staying with Mrs Balcombe Brown. Miss Hamlin, who has been staying with Mrs Pearco, left for Palmerston yesterday. Mrs P. J. Eyau. (Napier) is on a visit to Masterton, and is staying with Mrs M. C. O’Connell. Mrs Harold Abraham returned to Levin yesterday. . . Mrs H. Eoso (Dannovirke), who has .been on a visit lo the West Coast, - is making a short stay in Wellington, and staying at the Cecil. Mrs Andrew, who has been on a visit to Wellington, returned yesterday to Otaki. Mrs S. Broadbent (Carterton) is on a short visit to Wellington. Mrs J. W. Buchanan (Masterton) arrived yesterday on a short visit to W eliinglon. Mrs MoVey (Ohio), who is touring through the Dominion, is staying at the lloyal Oak. Miss Buchanan (Hawera) arrived yesterday on a short visit to Wellington. Miss Boyle (Christchurch) i sstaying with Mrs Algar Williams. Mrs F. Thompson, of Cheltenham Beach (Auckland), who has been visiting Mrs C. Wood, returns home to-morrow. Mr and Mrs Phillip Boswell Hume, who are staying with Colonel and Mrs Hume, leave on Thursday for Wanganui. Mrs Frank Dyer was hostess to an afternoon tea given for Mrs W. Bruce on Monday afternoon. Miss McLennan (Auckland) is visiting Wellington, and is the guest of Mrs John Campbell. Miss Hardinge Maltby, whoso gala day, prepared for her'by appreciative friends, approaches, mast feel gratified by the fact that Lady Islington, as well as Lady Ward, will be a patroness of the function. Amongst the guests at present staying at tlio Empire Hotel are Mr and Mrs Kinross White (Napier), Sir and Mrs Caselberg (Mas-terton). Miss Caselberg (Masterton), Mrs J. Hurstberg (Masterton), Mrs McLaren (Martinborough), Mr and Mrs J. W. Wilson (Auckland), Miami Mrs George Lawson (Dunedin), Mrs L. Wright (Napier). Miss Kirk, Petono, gave a most enjoyable young people’s tea on Saturday afternoon in honour of Miss Isobel McLennan (Auckland). About fifty young girls and young men were present. Tea was handed round from little Japanese trays — quite a delightful change from the usual way. A feature of the afternoon was a rather novel guessing competition on an observation table. The prize was won by Mr Hyams. Much pleasure was derived from the zonophonc, and records were kept going all the afternoon. Miss Kirk received her guests in a princess gown of white muslin and scarlet niuon scarf. Among those present were: The Misses Jones (2), Johnston, Nathan, Laing (Napier), Brandon, Heaton, Wright, Millais, Wardrop, Lynette, McKenzie, Sladden, Mrs Harding.
