FERRY STEAMER CAPSIZES
SEVEN PERSONS DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. NEW YORK, August 2. Tho ferry steamer Syracuse struck a shoal in the St. Lawrence near Massena, and capsized, hurling seventy-five passengers into tho river. All the passengers except seven were rescued hy other craft. Four bodies of women have becu recovered.

Tho cruiser Niobe, which was recently refloated after grounding in a fog, is stationed at Halifax.
She is in danger of sinking. Tho salvage steamers aro unable to cope with the rising water.
THE VESSEL SAVED,
CAPTAIN MULL PROBABLY BE COURT-MARTIALLED.

Additional pumps arriving, H.M.S. Niobe was saved from sinking. She will bo docked to ascertain the damage.
Captain McDonald, her commander, will probably be court-martialled.
