THE POSITION OF CLERGYMEN

Air Lloyd George, in a letter to South Wales Calvinistic Methodists’ Associations, states that clergymen come within tho provisions of insurance, provided in his Bill, either the compulsory or the voluntary section, the former if under contract of service and with a salary not exceeding £l6O a year.

Air Lloyd George, speaking in tho House of Commons, said that if he found that hospitals were seriously endangered by tho operation of’the Insurance Bill, it would be tho duty of tho Government to find a remedy.

Ho accepted an amendment by Dr C. Addison, Liberal member for Hoxton, transferring the administration of medical benefit from approved societies do local health committees. Dr Addison declared that doctors objected to contract practice, and that tbo prospect of its extension throughout the country was viewed with, alarm. His amendment would bo regarded as a fair settlement of tho differences between tbo societies and tbo doctors.
