HOME RULE DELEGATES

PRAISE FOR NEW ZEALAND,

MORE FREEDOM THAN IN AMERICA.

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.

SYDNEY, August 2,

The Irish delegates, who have arrived here from New Zealand, are enthusiastic over their mission in tho Dominion. Mr Donovan declares that tho New Zealanders have come to recognise that a settlement of tho Irish question will not only conduce to tho contentment of Ireland, but tend to the solidity of tho Empire. He is confident that if a plebiscite were taken it would show that 90 per cent, of New Zealanders were in practical sympathy with the claims of tho Irish people. The delegates aro unbounded in their praise of tho fair treatment accorded them by tho press. Messrs Redmond, Donovan, and Hazloton were greatly struck by tho prosperity everywhere evident in New Zealand, and the absence of extremes of rich and poor. Mr Redmond declared that New Zealand was a more democratic country than America, and there was more freedom in every sense in the Dominion than in tho United States.
