THE HEPPLE FUND
TOTAL NEARLY .£2OOO. TO BE HANDED TO THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE. .A meeting of the joint Lower Hntt committees of the Ilepplo fund was held last evening. Mr E. P. Bunny presided. There were seven ladies and eleven gentlemen present. Tho chairman moved—That the fund be handed to the ■Public Trustee to be applied at his discretion to tho benefit of tho widow and children. ,
Mr Baldwin thought it preferable to appoint a subcommittee to decide on tbe manner in which the Public Trustee should dispense the fund. Ho moved that a subcommittee, coexisting of Messrs Bunny, Baldwin, I’roeth, MoEwau, Aitken, tho Rev. Harris and two members of the ladies’ committee, bo appointd to decide on the disposal of the funds.
This was seconded by Mr McEwan and carried.
It was further resolved to hand the funds to the Public Trustee at once, and to request the holdere of other amounts to do the same.
Tho treasurer reported that the amount now in hand was as follows;
