HUTT BOWLING AND! TENNIS CLUB.

The ninth animal meeting of the Lower Uutt Bowling and Tennis Oub was hold last evening. Some fifty members were present, and. Mr G. Allport, president, occupied the chair. The showed that over £BQ in subscriptions and fees wore outstanding, half of which, was thought to bo nncollectable. The expenditure for the year to* tailed £512. and the receipts £485. The bank overdraft at the end a£ the year was £94 13d 7d. The, assets totalled £2341 8s Bd. and there woo-"a surplus of £495 Us 7d over liabilities.

In discussing the balance-sheet, Mr 'W* Callender said that the portion.was far from satisfactory. The committee should -refuse to allow nnfiiui.ncial members to play on the green or tennis coarts. It was resolved. to make provision for playing croquet on the club’s grounds, the subscription and entrance fees to be the same as in the tennis deportment. 1 The ground committee reported that one 1 croquet lawn was being prepared in a picturesque portion of the ground, and it was also intended to utilise one cf the grass tennis courts for the new game. Some members thought it inadvisable to limit the tennis players to one court, but the secretary pointed out that very little interest had been shown by tennis players during the last season. He urged that tho club should discontinue the inter-club competitions. Eventually it was resolved to authorise tho committee to convert one of tho asphalt tennis courts into a grass one. Tho following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr J. Duthic; president, Mr C. Trcvo thick-: vice-presidents. Messrs Hollard, Callender, and Maoaskill; delegate to association. Mr W. Moult; secretary, Mr EP. Eishworth; treasurer, Mr C. A. Seymour; committee, Messrs G. Allport, T. .Tones, 0. Stevens, W. Hendry, J. KaUio, Nicholson, \V. Gardiner, 0. Treadwell, and J. h. Barlow.
