FELL OFF A TRAM,
An. individual who was unable to give his name nearly met his death early last evening in Upper Willis street. Opposite the Brunswick Hotel ho chased an Aro street oar. Making a rash for the car ho got his feet on to the step and then fell heavily on the ground. Some bystanders picked up. In tho meantime the car •was stopped, and the conductor and motorman carried 'him into tho residence of Dr Gibbe, close by. Tho man received a alight cut over the right eye, a cut bn tho left eye, n-Vid abrasions about the face. He had a very fortunate escape. After being medically attended, he /wont on his way. An old-age pensioner named Christopher White, aged seventy years, was knocked down by a tramcar driven by Motorman Muir, in Adelaide road; at 10.30 yesterday morning. White stepped from the footpath, and in attempting to cross the road was struck by the car, which was coming towards the oity. The man, who received a scalp wound and suffered slight concussion, was attended to by Dr Cameron, at Gower's ~ Pharmacy, and was afterwards sent to the hospital, from which institution he loft for hia homo later in the day.
