ACCIDENT TO A STEAMER.

rIIESS ASSOCIATION. ■ NAPIER, July 28. AtA the steamer Hauroto was coming alongside the Glasgow wharf about 5.30 this evening she ran into the end of the wharf stem on, cutting through' the 10ft timber bay and about four feet of the concrete wharf beyond it. The pent in the wharf is approximately 11 feet long and of tho same width at the entrance, and tho damage is considerable. Tho steamer is also considerably damaged at the bow a few foot above the waterline. Tho stem is dented, and her steel plates are open for a distance of about seven foot from the front. The harbourmaster was in charge at the time.
