GOVERNMENT ORCHARDS.
PRRSS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, July 28. The first ten of the orchards prepared and planted by the Department of Agriculture at Waereuga are now being offered for selection. This marks an important phase in tho development of the ficiiomo for providing ready-made orchards for settlers desirous of taking up fruit culture. The orchards will bo obtainable on the optional system of tenure, Tho ten orchards vary from 21 acres to 48, acres in extent. Tho timo for receiving applications for these orchards closed to-day, and, as was expected, the orchards were eagerly sought after," over 70 applications being received. A few more may come by post.
