Ho pleaded guilty, and for the first offence was ordered to receive seven strokes of the birch, 7s to he paid by his father within fourteen days. '-hi the second charge he was convicted and discharged. 15s to bo refunded within fourteen days; ami was convicted and discharged for tho third _ offence. Ihc second boy implicated in tho third charge was also discharged. A boy fonrteen and a half years or ago ■was charged with having, between May -35th and July 2Cth at Kilbirnie, stolen 112 sin money, the property of the Wellington Gas Company, and with having between the same dates wilfully damaged fourteen gas meters, valued at 255, the property of tho Wellington Gas Compile pleaded guilty, and for the first offence was ordered to receive seven strokes of the birch, and for the second was convicted and discharged,_ 25s to be refunded by his mother within one month. * , , , „ . Another boy fifteen and a half years ot age pleaded guilty to tho following charges:—(l) That between May 15th and July 2Gth at Kilbiruie ho stole 2s, the property of tho Wellington Gas Company; (3) that between tho same dates ho damaged three gas meters, valued at ss, tho property of the Wellington Gas Company, and (ilj on or about June 36th at Kilbimie ho stole 5s in money the property of Francis ITipp. For tho first offence ho was ordered to •receive seven strokes of tho birch, and for the second and third was convicted and discharged. His mother was ordered to repay the 5s mentioned in tho third charge* >t anpeared that tho hoys, who were the children of respectable parents, stopped away from school without their parents knowledge and committed tho offences stated, —
