TECHNICAL SCHOOL

Tho Wellington Technical Education Board met last 'evening. Present: Messrs, I). Ilobertson (chair), W. Allan, J. G. W, Aitken, G. Frost, ,J. E. Fitzgerald, J. F. Luke, M.P.; W. H. Field, M.P., and John Smith. A committee was set np to confer with tho Education Board regarding tho dispute over tho rental of tho Industrial Association's rooms. The board of control of tho Amalgamated Society of Engineers inquired, whether it was entitled to representation on the board of advice. Particulars regarding the basis of representation by contributing bodies (Steed by Act of Parliament) are to bo furnished. Leave of absence was granted to Mr Shaw (registrar) for two weeks from August Ist, owing to ill-hoaltb. Tho report of Mr Angus Marshall (director of Dunedin Technical) and Mr La Trobe (Wellington) in regard to tho Callander memorial scholars hips mas ap. proved. The scholarships are to be of tho value of JJS each, tenable for one year. They are to be offered for competition among trade apprentices in their first year at the school, fifteen Scholarships being offered annually in Dunedin, and tho same number in Wellington. The term trade apprentice is to include (a) students of domestic economy in. ita various branches; (b) bona fide learners between the ages of fifteen and twentyone years working at any industrial trade or profession for which training ia provided at the Technical School, whether such learners are indentured as apprentices or not:
