VALUABLE SHIPMENT

IMPORTATION OP CLYDESDALES, Four valuable Clydesdales consigned to Mr J. W. Harding, Mount Vernon, Waipukurau, arrived by tne Ruaniuo yesterday. The shipment was made up by a six-year-old mare, 1 a hlly and two colts. The mare. White Silk, tvas bred by Mr Dunlop, Dunau, Mams, Ayr, and is by Harou of Buohlyvie, dam. Duchess of York, by Flasnwood. She is iu ioal to Monkave Mac. As a show ring performer she gained six firsts and championships as a three year old, and since then has been placed first three times, twice second and once third and fourth at the leading shows, She is 17 hands, and stands ou splendid foot and legs, and is well proportioned on top. Pride of Craigie Mains is a tnree-year-old filly bred by Mr John Gray, of Waterstono. She is by Baden Powell, dam, Jean of Waterstone, and is stinted to Champion Oyama. Tho stock from Champion Oyama gained fourth place among the prize show winners for all Scotland last year. The filly will most likely figure in local show rings next spring. , . ■ King of Honour is a promising two-year-old colt, bred by Montgomery Bros., Kirkcudbright. He is by that grand champion breeding horse Everlasting, and his dam is Ardlethen Eva, by Sir Everard. The colt has splendid feet and pasterns that will stand a lot of wear. He appears to bo just the stamp of horse that is required to got useful farm and town horses. The remaining colt. Dunrod Sensation, is a well-grown youngster by Sir Lord Leith, dam. Golden Lady, by Gold Mine. The horses have arrived in first-class condition, although the vessel had rather a rough passage at times. Taken altogether, they may be considered one of the most, if not tho most valuable importation of Clydesdales that have ever pcen brought into the North Island. They were personally selected by Mr J. W. Harding after he had visited the leading studs of Scotland and the North of England. Tho infusion of new blood of this description cannot fail bnt have a most beneficial effect in improving Clydesdales throughout the country. After being examined by the Government Veterinarian the horses will be railed at once to their new home in Hawke’s Bay.
