RETIREMENT OF CHIEF NAVAL CONSTRUCTOR. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright, LONDON, July 9. Sir Philip "Watts, Director of Naval Construction, has retired from tho Admiralty.
Sir Philip Watts, who is sixty-onc years of age, had been director of naval con* to tho Admiralty since 1901. He vas a contractor at the Admiralty until 1885, and waa naval architect and director of the warship-brakling department of Armstrong. Whitworth and Co., Ltd., from 1885 to 1901.
