RUN OVER BY MOTOR CAR
MAN SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. On La/mbton quay at ,1.30 o’clock last ©veiling Air Frederick Hunt, ag-ocl sixty years, employed by Air Pinnock, of the Arcadia Private Hotel, as supervisor of his . taxi cabs, was run'over by a motor car and received injuries which resulted m .death. The deceased was crossing • the quay from, the* side opposite tho Arcadia. It was dark and raining at the time. Evidently, in avoiding a tram car, ho did not notice that hr Ewart’s motor car was approaching. Tho driver of the latter vehicle aiso did not observe Hunt iu the roadway until ho was a few yards from him. Tho brake was at ouco applied. It was then found that ,ATr Hunt had been knocked down and seriously injured. Dr Ewart, who wa*s an occupant of the car when the accident happened, rendered medical aid and conveyed the man in his car to the hospital. Air Hunt had received a fracture of the base «rf the skull. Ho never regained consciousness, and died about S o’clock last night. The deceased was formerly a nurseryman at Alarton, where he was well-known. Ho had been residing for some months at 10, Hiropi street. He was a widower. He leaves a grown-up two of his married daughters living at Newtown.
