Senator Cummins’s amendment to the Reciprocity Bill, jiroposing the placing of Canadian iron and steel products, flour, lumber, coal, leather, .and woollen and cotton goods on the free list, Was defeated by 32 votes to 14. POSITION IN CANADA. THE QUESTION TO BE THE ERECTION ISSUE. OTTAWA, July 9. It is believed that tho Laurier Government has decided to hold the general elections on the Reciprocity issue in October. A definite statement is expected when Parliament reassembles.
