fnou oua oira cokeeseoxdrst. CARTERTON. JulylO. Tho Carterton branch of the Wairarapa Egg Circle this morning despatched close on a hundred dozen eggs to the Wellington market. Mr D. Thomas, who has been secretary to the Martinborough Volunteer Firo Brigade, is leaving for New South Whiles. Mr Thomas was entertained by the brigadesmen a few evenings ago and presented with a suitably inscribed silver-mounted inkstand. Mr J. Fisher, of Clarqville, who is a prominent member of tho Carterton Hookey Club, was presented with'a handsome fourteen-day clock the other evening by tho members of tho club _to mark tho occasion of his approaching marriage. Tho presentation was made by Mr A. J. Lindop. a vice-president of tho club. Mr and Mrs R-. Clephane, who are leaving Dry Eiver, Martinborough, were entertained at a social and presentod with a silver tea and coffee service, and silvermounted tray. Mr and Mrs W. Sorensen, Featherston, will supply the music at the annual ball of tho Martinborough Lodge cf Oddfellows on Thursday week. During tho past month the ranger in the Greytown borough impounded fourteen head of cattle aud handed thirty-five head over to their owners. Mr C. Elgar has donated £3 5n to the Mount Hector track fund. The appeal for funds for the Coronation swimming baths, Greytown, is being responded to very freely.
