MOTOR-CAR INSPECTION
Mr Spry, of the Central Fire Brigade staff, who was recently appointed motor expert to the City Council, started his official duties yesterday. Arrangements have been made fqr tho inspection of all taxi-cabs plying for hire, the object being to see that all cars carrying passengers are in good working order and safe. The cars will he inspected at the fire station. At present there are twenty-nine cars in Wellington plying for hire. Each 'driver pays a license fee of five shillings, and a certificate is not issued until the council's officials are satisfied that tho person applying for a license is competent.
