GARRISON BAND CONCERT. FURTHER DONATIONS.. T3k> sum of £33 4s 8d was collected at the Wellington Garrison Band concert at the Town. Hall last evening for the ilcf>ple fond. The attendants and vocalists pave their eorvicos gratuitously, and it is believed that only a very small amount will be deducted tor expenses. Tho band, under the oendnetorehip of Lieutenant T. Herd, contributed tho selection “La T.rariab;." (Verdi), air varie “Spanish Chant" (Bound), "Hallelujah'” chorus (Handel), “White Lilies" (J. Orel Hume), and “Under Freedom's Danner'' (Von Dion). Mxe A. Mitchell gave a, pleasing rendition of Handel's largo “Ombra Ma Pu” with violin obligato tastefully played by Mr K. S. Farmer. Mr C. Clarkson was encored far Ids interpretation of “Crossing ttho Bar” (Gower), and ho added “Oh, Hush mo to a Dreamless Sleep” (Gerald Lane). Mr H. N. Fletcher was heard to advantage in “I hear you Calling Me” (Marshall), and in response to a recall added “Angels Guard Theo” (Godard). Mr Former's violin obligato to the last number was a graceful perfonnanoo. Mr B. C. Hollow accompanied the vocalist. A cou.plo of graphopionc items were given by Mr J. W. Reads, honorary eocretary of tho Hepplo fund. The following additional subscriptions have been received at tho "Times'' office; —Mr and Mrs T. Retiring collections in aid of the Heppie fund wore taken up in tho Congregational and Methodist Churches in Wellington yesterday. Tho amounts were not available lust evening.
