COMPETITION GAMES CONTINUED. RESULTS. United 3 Y.M.C.A 1 Karori 6 Wellington 2 Victoria College 3 Wesley 2 For tho continuation of the hockey on Saturday the best of weather conditions prevailed, but as far as play was (Viiu'erneti it was ot an _ uninteresEng nature. JCarori had ,no difficulty u\ defeating Wellington, and they still remain lenders ior the senior championship. Notes on the play arc appended: UNITED v. Y.M.C.A, As was expected, the mooting of these two learns on the No. 3 ground at Day’s Bay provided an ovenly-eoiUcsied game. Unirod managing to win in tne latter stages. Tho United lor ward rank gave an improved display, but on. many occasions they failed to make the* most ot opportunities. Tho hack division played a sound game, and Buyer in goal wao prominent with some good work. Y.M.C.A. had a number of now faces in i heir feani, but they managed to keep up their end with United. This game, played at JCarori, was more oven than expected. College being euccoftsfnl in winning in tho last ten minutes of play. IVesley played a very good game despite tho absence of Birch in the forwards, but their circle play was mainly responsible for letting thorn clown. Owing to the vacation at the College the greens’ team was slightly altered, but nevertheless they all played well. During the first part of the game College had slightly the better of the attack, but Wesley, on the other hand, were stern defenders, and when, half-time arrived neither iside had reared. After the change-over Wesley attacked with a will, and their efforts were rewarded with, a capital, goal off the stick of Keys. College scored directly afterwards, per medium of C. Struck, but "Wesley not being content with having matters equal again registered a goal, Smith, the right Inside, finding the not. Another spell of up-and-down field play followed. Mr Forrest carried tho whistle. JUNIOR. St. Mark's, after a stern fight with tho Gregg's team on No. 2 ground at Day’s Bay, succeeded in winning the game by 3 goals to 2. The scorers for St: Alark's were Burdelrrn. Wilson and Bingham, and for Gregg's, Lawrence and Benge. Mr M, Luckie refereed. A very interesting junior game was that between United, leaders for the junior championship, and Government Insurance, at Day’s Bay, United winning the match in the closing stages. At halftime United were leading by 2 goals to 1, and directly after resuming Government Insurance -equalised. For the rest of the game play was up and down field, both )teams putting in good work, especially the two sets* of backs and goalkeepers. ! Scorers for United were Wilson, Bennett and CTapson, and- for Government Insuv- ; anco McClintock and Bennett. Mr C. P. McKenzie was referee. Victoria College A defeated Y.M.C.A. after an evenly-contested match by 2 goals to 1. McDowell and Eagar scored for College, and Page for the losers. Air | C. IT. Cockrell was referee, j Ivarori delimited to Victoria College B. Metropolitan, at Miramar, defeated Wellington by 2 goals to 1. THIRD-CLASS. Wellington defeated Wesley by 4 goals to 2. St. Mark’s won their match against Greggs by 5 goals to 2. Government Insurance defeated Hutt by 2 goals to 1. Selby and Hamilton scored for the winners and Smith for tho losers. WELLINGTONS ELEVEN AGAINST HAWKE'S BAY.
