THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR
PBJGSS ASSOCIATION, DUNEDIN, July 9. The Sheffield Choir gave a matinee performance in tho Garrison Hall yesterday afternoon. In the gallery all the seats were occupied as well as standing room; there was no seating accommodation on the floor. The proceedings took the form of a promenade function, but owing to tho dense crush no one could move far. In the evening, when “Elijah” was tho attraction, the carsheds were packed, tho choir being assisted by 200 voices from the local choirs. A* magnificent rendering of the famous work was given. Tho choir left Dunedin this afternoon by the Manuka, being given a most cordial send-off by an enormous crowd. Tho singing of "God Save tho King” as tho vessel moved away was most impressive.
