FIRE AT MASTERTON

INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. PSESS ASSOCIATION. MASTERTON, July 9. At about 2 o'clock tills morning a firo broke out in tho totalisator bouse at the Opaki racecourse and quickly spread to tho inside grandstand, themco making a clean sweep of tho tea kiosk, the secretary’s office, press office, weighing-in room, jockeys’ room, and loose-boxes, only leaving the people’s stand and judge’s box standing. The indications point to incendiarism, as there is. evidence of fire having been lit in the people's stand and laving gono out. Ono of the doors of tho building had been burst open, and tho lire set inside, but fortunately it bad gono out after doing .a little damage. The buildings destroyed are valued at £4OOO and covered by an insurance of £ISOO. Tho police have tho matter in band. The fire was discovered shortly after'it started by an Opaki resident, W.
