SKETCH EXHIBITION. The sketch exhibition of tho Academy of Fine Ans was opened on Saturday iVternoon by Mr li. S. Warded, president. There were numerous viritol> during tho alternoon. Tho x>resident congratulated the academy upon the character of the exhibition. Ho doubted whether there had been a better sketch exhibition anywhere in Now Zealand—and this was saying a great deal, but ho meant it. Ho hoped the public would show thoir appreciation of it not only by visiting the gaiiory and examining the pictures, but by rewarding tli© artists by making liberal purchases. The exhibition is an attractive one, and merits extensive patronage. It nviU bo open all the week. The ©sketches are for the most part for sale.
