FEOJI OUE OWU COEEESPOITOENT. PALMERSTON, July 9. Messrs F. Pirand (Feilding) and A. Matheson (Longburn) have been nominated from tho southern districts for tho vacancies 6n the Wanganui Education Board. Mr D. Buick, M.P., will deliver his first electoral address at the Opera House on tho 18th mst. Exceptionally heavy rain has been falling here ,to-day, and flooded rivers are expected. Tho fancy dress skating carnival organised by Airs R. McKnight in aid of tho high school funds was a brilliant success, and resulted in a net profit of £SO. As was anticipated a day or two ago, tho retail price of butter in Palmerston has advanced to eighteenponco a pound. Thoro is a possibility that it may yet riso another penny or twopence a pound before the turningpoint is reached.
