It its difficult to describe the humour of Mr Tom Walls, it is enough to say that tliis comodi an i.s in a class by himself, and that nothing funnier than Ids Peter Doody has been seen on tho New Zealand stage. Mr Fred Wirm was sufloring from a cokl on Saturday evening, and did not appear, the important park of James Smith being taken by Mr Earnest who did very well indeed. Miss Winifred O’Connor, MBs Gertrude Gilliam, Mr Harold Thor ley and other piin-cdpal members of the company were ail hoar lily applauded. “The Arcadians” will be played every night until further notice. THEATRE ROYAL. The Theatre Royal was well attended on Saturday evening overy tum by Fullers’ Vaudeville Company was enthusiastically received. The most popular contributions include the items by Visa Maud • Fanning, the Elliott Sisters, Miss Ettic Williams, blisses Del--wyn. and Tye, and Mr Ward Lear. The usual change of prorammo will bo introduced this evening. HIS MAJESTY’S PICTURES. His Majesty’s Theatre was filled in all parts on Saturday evening, when the fine programme presented (©voted hearty applause. To-night there will b© a complete chango of programme, when the “star” film will bo ‘The Lyons Mail.” This picture, described ins an unusually powerful and realistic dramatic .study, deals with a grave miscarriage of justice. *On March 28th, 1795, the mail coach and four eet out from Paris carrying seven million francs for tho payment of Najxdeon’s troops in Italy. The mail was held up bv bandits and robbed, the escort being, killed. ,An honest man who. unfortunately for himself, had a strong personal resemblance to one of the bandits, was arrested, and with some of the members of the band, condemned to death. Not till the unfortunate man was executed did one of tho members o' tiie band confess that lie was innocent. The picture is of excellent photographic : quality, and is full of exciting incidents and thrilling situations from start to finish. THE NEW THEATRE. The continuous picture programme provided at the New Theatre kept this cosy little house of amusement well filled throughout Saturday, and in the evening it was a difficult matter to gain admission. The films arc a really excellent selection and embrace all subjects and cater to all tastes. * There will bo tho usual change to-morrow evening. ORGAN RECITAL. Mr Maugiian Barnett resumed his organ recitals at the Town Hall on Saturday evening, when there was a fair audience. The programme included selections from Wagner, Bach, Hensolt, Rheinberger, Dubois, and Wesley. OLYMPIA SKATING RINKAll sessions of tho Olympia Skating Rink were crowded with roller skaters on Saturday, and there were also numerous spectators. The rink will be opes for the usual sessions this afternoon and evening. The carnival to be held next Wednesday is attracting much attention. A society for the propagation of drama and comedy has been established under the stage management of Mr Charles Gray, at Petone. The organisation, to bo known as the Hutt Valley Dramatic Club, intends producing a high-class comedy in Retone within the next month.
