THE HEPPLE FUND

The operetta “ Cinderella in Texas" was performed at the Paiace Theatre, Petone, last evening in aid of the nepple fund. The hall was well filled and the audience received good value for their admission money in the capital manner in which the juvenile performers acted and sang their parts. The proceeds, amounting to some JhU, are to be handed to the treasurer of the Petone committee of tuc fund.

There will be retiring collections in oil the Methodist churches in the city tomorrow in aid of the Keppie fund. • Tomorrow night, in tne Town Hall, the Garrison Band, with'the aid of leading vocalists; will give a concert, the proceeds to he devoted to tho fund. The Mayor, in forwarding a second contribution of a guinea each from Mr and Mrs Wilford, says:—'The public can be relied upon for any deserving case, and the cold staud-oliUuuess of tue average Britisher is merely the outward show, not the reality. To do good is to feel good, and if we could in this small community of ours found a sunshine club with only one object, the brightening of the lives of those who uted assistance and sympathy, we should in turn become better men by force of the occupation."

The Katariki Savage Club gave a benefit concert in a.d of the Hep'ple family at the Kiosk, Worser Bay, last evening. It was voted the most successful concert ever held in the bay. There was a large attendance, and the programme which' was submitted was thoroughly enjoyed. The sum of .£32 was taken, the whole of which will'be handed over to the secretary of the fund. One member of the club sold a single complimentary ticket twenty-one times, realising by this means"jei 11s 9d. Mr Wyatt presided.
