MONTHLY MEETING. Tfie liarbonr Board field its monthly meeting last night. There were present: —Messrs R. Fletcher (the chairman) KC. Renner, A. MoFarlano, J. W McEwan, J. C. Cobbe, C. VV. Jones, P. C. Freeth, M. Cohen, and C. B. Darnells, and A. H. Hindmarsh. Messrs Harkness, Fitzgerald, Trevor, and Towsley ;vICC granted leave of absenceTHE FINANCES. Tho statement of finances showed that the current accounts of the imprest account were in credit to the extent or *30.071 5s 10d and .£Bl6 19s Id respectively. The sum of .£70,000 was on fixed deposit. The payments required totalled *25,743 153 7d, and were as follow:—For accounts ami wages, .£17,005 Is id; for progress payments on contracts. It was reported by tho chairman that contract No. 152 lor extension of sea wall Waterloo quay, had been completed: that contract No. 159, for asphalting the floors of “J" wool store had been completed. The chairman also reported that the Mavor, Mr T. M- Wilford, late chairman of the board, had presented lus framed portrait to be hung on tho board room wall. It was decided that a vote of thanks be accorded to Mr Wilford for his gift. VARIOUS DECISIONS. The wharves and accounts committee recommended tho board, and it was agreed: 1. To call for tenders, dosing at 5 p.m. on Juno SSth, for the supply of uniforms and uniform caps. 2. That as the Coronation Day and Prince of Wales’ Birthday (a by-tow holidav) fall on succeeding days the board'decide not to observe the former as a holiday unless it is found practicable to observe Prince of Wales’ Birthday on Coronation Day. 3. Thai; a lease bo offered to the Wellington Gas Company. Limited, for a piece of land near-Miramar "Wharf ns location for pumping house, and leave be given to carry a suction pipe into the sea under the wharf at an annual rent of £lO 10s, subject to three months’ notice on either side. . 4. To affix the seal of the board to foreshore license from the board to city corporation for semi-circular wall at Oriental Bay. 5. To grant, subiect to approval of tbe Governor-in-Council, foreshore licenses to H. Crouchor and A. H. Mitchell for boatsheds at Evans Bay. ■ 6. To affix the seal to appointment of the hoard's engineer, Mr James Marchbaufcs, te represent the board before the Conciliation Council and Arbitration Court. 7. To instruct tlie engineer to prepare estimates of cost of construction of wall across the dock entrauco and repairing the adjoining sea wall. NO ACTION. A letter was received from Messrs Gnalter, Dykes and Co. inquiring if the board would insert a full page advertisement in “Dun’s Internationa! Review’ for one year at a net cost of £l5O. —It was decided to take no action. NOTICE OF MOTION. Mr Hindmarsh gave notice to move at the next meeting-.—" That tho Harbour Board undertake the loading arid unloadin'- of ships trading to Wellington, and generally to perforin all work required to be done at and on tho Wellington wharves except cartage." .
