NEW ZEALAND UNION MEETING OE THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union met last evening. Mr N. Galbraith occupying tho chair. There were present: Dr McLvcoy, and Messrs If. Kelly, A. Laurenson, i. J. Wallburton. It. M. Isaacs, and J. JJ. Avery (.secretary). . , The South Auckland Imion notified that it had challenged the Auckland Union for the Rnnfurly Shield. It vas decided to ask the union if it had suggested a date to tho Auckland Union, 01. if not, what date it proposed. PROPOSED UNIVERSITY TOUR. Tho New Zealand University Football Committee wrote stating that the Sydney University Football Club had invited it to send to Sydney a team representing the New Zealand University during the present season. It was proposed to play two matches against Sydney University and on© match against an outside team. DISQUALIFICATIONS. The Wellington Union notified that the following had been disqualified:— S. Shearer, of Sehvyn juniors, suspended for twelve playing Saturdays from May 6th for striking another player; P. Aekins, of the Athletic juniors, ,or four playing Saturdays for harassing a referee during a match on May 6th. The suspensions were made general. Sydney Paul, of Blenheim, who was disqualified four seasons ago for playing football under Northern Union rules, applied to have his base reconsidered. It was decided to inform the applicant that the union had no power to grant reinstatement. ENGLISH LAWS SUB-COMMITTEE. The committee of tho English Union forwarded tho following resolution:--''That such members of tho committee who reside in the metropolitan area, or have a place of business m that area, form the laws sub-committee.; together with one accredited representative o t tho combined unions of New Zealand, Queensland, and New South Wales, and ono of the South African Board. All questions of interpretation of laws shall be referred to this committee, who shall report their rulings to tho full committee, no ruling to take effect or bo published until approved of by the full committee.. The representatives of the combined unions of New Zealand. GENERAL. Tho appointment of selectors for the South Island-was held over. The New Zealand Referees Association notified that it had decided that travelling referees should claim only actual and reasonable travelling and hotel expenses. O. Doles (in tho chair), J. Sweeney, W. Hardiham, W- Perry, E. Little, and J. Burns. In connection with tho agreement with the Petone Borough Council regarding Petone ground it was decided that it the weather is wet the match on No. 1 ground shall be transferred to No, 2 ground, provided that tho Petone Borough Council rope the latter off. A letter was received from the Marlborough Rugby Football Union confirming the acceptance of June 22nd as the date on which to play the Wellington representatives. Miramar Ltd. intimated that it would be, quite agreeable to that company for the Rugby Union to have a short lease of its ground prepared in terms already stated, also that there would be no objection to the union erecting a dressing shed to accommodate players. PLAYER DISQUALIFIED. In regard to the Porirua v. Wellington match a fortnight ago, in which J. Sim was ordered off the field, that player wrote, stating that he was not aware that he had to attend the last meeting of the union to make an explanation of his action in striking an opponent. Ho said that he considered at the time that Wier used unnecessary force in bringing him down and he lost his temper. However, he promised to control his feelings in future. —It was decided that, seeing that Sim has not appeared before the union, he be suspended for two playing Saturdays, starting from the date of the offence. CORONATION PROCESSION. A letter was received from tho town clerk asking if the various clubs in the union would be willing to take part (in club uniform) in the procession being arranged, in celebration of the Coronation. It was also asked that the union send representatives to meet tho Mayor at the Town Hall to-night in order that arrangements might be made. Tho idea of players taking part in the procession in uniform did not.'seeru to find much favour, but it was deckled that Messrs Sweeney. Burns and Perry bo appointed a subcommittee to confer with the Mayor this evening. CLASSIFICATION. OF TEAMS. In reference to the classification of tho St. James fourth-class team as thirdclass, a letter was received from that club stating that tho fourth-class team was totally, unfit to play third-class. In view of this it was asked that the elassi-' fication h« reconsidered. Tho boys declined to. play third-class and it would mean having to withdraw the team from the competition. It was suggested during discussion on the matter that there were too many third-class teams, but members of the committee did not agree with this. The committee decided that tho St. Janae© Club should bo allowed to continue its fourth-class team without playing a third-class team. Complaint was made by Mnrisfc Bros, of the treatment of their boys by the referees in the matches Marist B (fifth division) v. Boys' Institute, and sixth division v. Brooklyn.—The referees in both cases are to be asked to attend next meeting and give an -explanation. On the motion of Mr B. L. Salmon it : was decided to enter an emphatic protest against any team or player approaching the committee and making reference to incidents in the game. YESTERDAY’S MATCHES. Hearts v. Union. Tliis game played at Newtown Park was of a very poor description, neither team possessing any dash. Pretty well from start to finish Hearts had the superiority, their combination being far better than that of Union. The game resulted in a win for Hearts by 4 goals to 1. Following were the scorers for hire winners ; Bolton (2), Mawby (1), and McCollum (1). Perk scored for Union from a penalty lack. Y.M.C.A. v. Hearts B. This match was played ca Duppa street reserve, both sides scoring three , goals each. Hearts B kicked off with the wind at their backs and kept Y.M.C.A. defending for a good part of tho first spoil, the spell ending with Hearts B having scored one goal. Kettle-well sending tho ball through tho bars. In the second spell Y.M.C.A. livened up and kept Hearts B defending and E. Phillips with a good run scored. Soon after this King scored another goal for Y.M.C.A. Hearts B again got going, and from a good run up field Alexander scored. After a time Hearts B again attacked, and from a scramble in front of the Y.M.C.A. goal Kettlewcll scored. Play now became interesting, both sides doing good work. King scored for Y.M.C.A. just before the call of time. Father Malloy gave every satisfaction as referee. '
