ATTEMPTED LYNCHING
IN SOOTH AFRICA MORE SERIOUS ASSAULTS BY BLACKFELLOWS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyricht (Received May 23, XI p.m.) CAPETOWN, May 23. An organised attempt was made at Port Elizabeth to lynch a native guilty of criminal assault on a girl. The police at Bergville, Natal, frustrated an attempt, to lynch a native accused of attempting a criminal assault on two ladies. Mr Lewis, a leading citizen of Bulawayo, was killed by a native whom ho had accused of indecency towards his little girls.
