THE SCOULLAR CO.
'VJ'O resume of* Wellington's industries would be complete which omitted tho work of the Scoullar Co. As manufacturcrers of excellent furniture, which combines artistic beauty with practical utility, this firm is well known throughout the Dominion. But. seeing is believing, and a visit to the great warehouse, on Lamfiton quay, is “seeing'’ of a pleasant kind, attractive as the ground floor with its display of furniture of all- styles and degrees of richness or simplicity is, the upper floor where CARPETS AND CURTAINS are shown, indeed, line the walls of the spacious departments, and what a feast of colour they represent! Especially on© is charmed with the beautiful selection of self carpets in heliotrope, old rose, willow green and mastic. No less beautiful, though in a different style, are the. rugs, the Brussels and Axminster carpets with their harmonious blendings of colour, their borders, and hearthrugs en suite. Here, as on the ground floor, is something for all tastes from, the simple to tTie ornate; and the same rule applies to tho curtains and hangings. Chintzes of rosebud simplicity or rich and intricate design; silken tapestries, plain materials which harmonise with summer or with winter schemes of colour, and through all the varied collection the tame note of honest excellence as prevails in the furniture department. Not the least pleasing conviction • born of a visit to the Scoullar Company's establishment, is that of a large and flourishing business worthily supporting the Dominion standards of labour and art.
