MR MASSEY’S CHALLENGE. HON.' GEORGE FOWLDS’ RETORT. Tie leader of the Op-position. having invited tho Hon. Q. Fowlds to tour tho Dominion at the- expense of his political opponents, on promising to repeat his l Pukekoho speech in every electorate. Mr Low Ids told a. "New Zealand Times’’ representative on Saturday that he is quite prepared to take up Mr Massey's offer. , “Yes, I saw it. but it was only bluff," replied Mr Fowlds -when the newspaper representative /asked if Mr Massey's challenge had reached him during his travels. “When Mr Massey gets his guarantee of the travelling expenses complete, I will be prepared to favourably consider tho proposal. I notice ho was discreetly silent on the principal charge I brought against him in that speech. That was that he had appealed to the foreign money-lenders to put the squeeze on New Zealand, and X hope the farmers and settlers,in tho backblocks will take notice of that fact, because the stoppage of money for making roads and bridges is likely to do more serious injury to them than the presence of a single-tax Minister i> the Cabinet.'’
