KNOCKED DOWN BY A BICYCLE

FATAD ACCIDENT TO AN OLD MAN. PKESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, December 23. An old man, James Berry < Hoyes, a resident of Devonport, met with a fatal accident. about 3 o’clock this afternoon. Ho was crossing the road in' Queen street, near Fort street, and hesitated a moment, apparently undecided what to do, when a bicycle slowly ridden by a man named Bush collided with him, knocking the old man down. Hoyes was taken to tho hospital, where he was found to he suffering from concussion. He gradually sank, and died nt 5.30. His age was seventy-six years. The cyclist, who was on the proper side of the road, also suffered a nasty tumble.
