POLICE HEROES LAID TO REST VICTIMS OF THE HOUNDSDITGH TRAGEDY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, December 22. Art impressive service was held in St. Paul’s Cathedral in connection with the funeral of the three policemen murdered by the Russian burglars at Houndsditch. Mr E. W. Wallington, G.M.G., private secretary to Queen Alary, represented the King. The City and Metropolitan Mayors, the Right Hon. Winston Churchill, and Sir Edward Reid were present. The three coffins were placed at the head of the nave. The service ended with the hymn “Rock of Ages,” and many of the audience were overcome by emotion. The streets were crowded, many Jews being among the spectators, and traffic was suspended. A procession of postmen,, firemen, city, metropolitan, and provincial police marched eight miles to Ilford, in Essex, where the bodies were interred. Whitechapel on suspicion of being concerned in the Hoomdsditch murders. A reward of ,£SOO is offered for the arrest of persons wanted for the Houndsditch murders. ANOTHER SUSPECT CAUGHT. Mr Winston Churchill, Home Secretary, is supplying the most modern revolver to the police stations for use in emergencies.
