MEAT FOR AUSTRIA
IMPOETATION SANCTIONED. SECRET AGREEMENT WITH HUNGARY REVEALED* By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received December 2. 9.40 p.m.) VIENNA, December 2. The Second Chamber, by 223 votes to 206, adopted a motion'in favour of the unrestricted entry of trans-oceanic meat into Austria. The ’debate revealed the fact that the Austrian Government was bound by a secret agreement which did not permit the importation of meat without the Hungarian Government's consent. The Austrian authorities are now of opinion that • Hungary sanctioned the recent importation of 10,000 tons of Argentine meat, hut the Hungarian Government denies this, and says it agreed only to 2000 tons being admitted.
It is doubtful whether the Austrian Parliament's decision will result in meat being imported. *
