IMPOSSIBLE DEMANDS
Delay in providing trucks sufficient to give prompt dispatch to a number oi coal cargoes which arrived in Wellington early this month was complained ot to tire Alinister for Railways by Air McLaren. The Minister replied that it is impossible to meet such emergencies, and he declines to authorise a large expenditure for the purpose of providing waggons that would frequently stand idle for considerable periods, merely to have available sufficient trucks to meet the greatest demand that might arise on one or two occasions during the year.
