STABBED IN THE GROIN
PECULIAR INCIDENT. SEVEBE WOUND INFLICTED. While Constable Squires was arresting Ales Hulpborg, a tjerman seafaring man, for. drunkenness in Willis street, at 2.30 p.m. yesterday, the latter, it is alleged, drew a knife and lunged at the constable. The blow was warded off by the constable, and the knife penetrated the arrested man in the groin, inflicting rather severe injuries, an artery being severed. Tb.o wound was about an inch and a lialf deep. Dr. Henry was summoned en arrival of the injured_ man at the Lambton quay police station. Hulpberg, is to bo charged to-day with assaulting Constable Scjuires with intent to Uo him grievous bodily harm.
