Only fifteen members of tho Wellington Harriers turned out at Island Bay on Saturday afternoon to follow paper strewn by W. Power and T. Johnson. The course, which was the best followed this season, led round the Queen's drive, past tho old Hermit's cave, thence over the hill and down on to Lyall Bay beach, half of which was traversed. The paper then led across tho sand mouts to the tram line, doubling back at the city boundary through South Kilbirnie, and again over tho hill ,at tho back of Mount Albert. From lierc tho ridges were followed south as far as tho Convent, the pack then descending on to the main Island Bay road. The half-mile run in. resulted in a win by a bare yard for F. Wilton, with W. Prose and B. Curry second and third respectively. Next Saturday the run starts from Ngahauranga. Arrangements for the fourth annual dance to be held at St. Peter's HalJ ion July Bth arc well in hand. ! Quite a new departure in the local harrier world was undertaken by the Brooklyn Hariers on . Saturday. The president, Mr R. A. Wright, M.P., and Dr. Cousins and Messrs G. Frost and W. H. Philp, vice* presidents, together with tho club mem--1 bers were conveyed by drag to Taitai. A large banner with the club's monogram was carried on the journey. ‘ On arrival at tbe grounds, tho pack set out with the guidance of the captain, thp laying of paper being done away with- ✓ About six miles of the best harrier country around Wellington were covered, the pack keeping well together throughout the journey. Tho usual run in was held over the last &00 srards,5 r ards, and resulted in a win for J. Don, with 0. Murray and F. Hodson second a nor third respectively. Tho remainder finished in a bunch a few yards behind. On the return journey the club captain, Mr P. A. Wilton, thanked the president and vicepresents for attending. Tho president and vice-presidents suitably responded. Next Saturday's run will be held from Te Aro Bathe at 3 p.m. Monikers are reminded that the entries for the three mil© sealed handicap, to be run at Miramar on June lltfa. close with the captain next Saturday.
