COLUMBIA (6) v. KELBURNE (3). These teams met at Buppa street on Sat* urday in the first round of the Proud Cup competition. A fast, keenly-contested game resulted, and Columbia's speedy attackers simply ran Kelbnrne's defence to a standstill. Lack of training was shown in Kelbume’s defence. Columbia scored early *in the first quarter after a brilliant run in on the Kelburne goal. At half-time, however, Kelburnc led by 3 goals to 1. This waff due to the splendid efforts of Loughnan and Meyer, the former scoring once, while the latter found the net twice. In the third quarter Columbia got through and secured another poivt. The referee came in for some attention over his decision in respect to this goal, but he held that the ball had: nassed between the posts and awarded tho point. Columbia ran away with the same in the last quarter and scored four goals in quick succession. Kelburno’e best players were Meyer, Jordan and MacNamara, while every man in Columbia's team did well. Mr A. G. Anderson was referee. CAPITOL (12) v. WELLINGTON (4). This match was played on tho Basin Reserve, and Capitol led by 6 goals to 1 at half-time. In the third quarter Capitol scored several times, but in tho final spell Wellington came away, and after splendid combined play secured 3 points. Capitol's best were Dee (goal), King and J. Rankin, (defence), with Borrodale and Montgomery. For Wellington Ryder, Wix, Robinson and Carver played up to -standard form. Mr R. Clouston refereed
