A concert, in aid of the funds of the •Wadcatown Club, was given in the club house last evening, there being a large attendance. The following contributed to the programme:—Misses Baiif, Webbo O'Donovan, P. Bain, M. Webb, and Messrs Wilson. H. Wyatt, and' W, Goudie. Mis-cs Grace Palotta, Celia Ghilouj, Maud Chetwynd, Huby Baxter, Florence Kedfern, Messrs Hush «T. Ward, Reg. Wykeham, Aubrey Mallileau, E. Greig, H. H. Wallace, Lawrence Hardinge, 11. L. Gilbert and others will be associated with-Mr Hugh J. Ward during his tour of “The Girl from Hector’s." Paul M. Potter is the author of the work, and, despite the fact that his past has been identified with plays of a serious nature, ho hit upon a vein of humour in “The Girl" which astonished even his most ardent admirers. It is a long step from a play the nature of "Trilby/’ of which he is the author, to an offering like that of hia latest creation.. New York critics declare he has made a name for himself- in the field of comedy, which wi< survive his former reputation. There is not a dull line throughout “The Girl from Hector’s." The success of the piece may be judged from the fact that the earning capacity of Weber’s theatre was many times greater than that of the same house when Weber's and Field’s offerings were the sole topic of the New York theatre going public..
