Tho nominations received by the Wellington Racing Club for the club's autumn meeting aro thoroughly representative of tho whole of the Dominion, and Mr Pollock, the haiidicappcr, ha* been, act a difficult task iii bringing thy horses together. iTo will, however, have plenty of recent form to go upon. The starting bell will bo ringing at noon to-day, when the Napier Park Racing Club make a commencement with (ho autumn meeting. The gathering promises to bo a fairly successful one, although in 6am© cases fields will bo small. Tho meeting will bo brought to a conclusion, to-morrow. Tho Wellington Pony and Galloway Racing Club announces a meeting to be held at Miramar on Saturday next. Nominations for all events in. connection with the fixture close with Mr Cummins at noon to-day. The Hutt contingent for tho Masterton meeting will leave for the scene of action this morning. All the moinbers of C. Pritchaord's team are in tip-top fettle and are expected to play a prominent part in, the decision of events at the gathering. Quite a number of owners have neglected to register their proper colours, and this is likely to cost them something in the way of penalties. To register colours costs £1 Is only. Failure to do so means a fine of .£1 for each horse starting in, unregistered colours. As it will be difficult, to set colours registered at headtraaxters (Christehurch) before Easter, the fines inflicted should reach imposing proportions. Mr W. Montgomery, the Auckland owner, is highly pleased -with the Nestor gelding Nelius, and ho anticipates getting back his purchase money at the Auck. land Easter-I meeting. \ ■ Cavaliero, who dead-heated with Hatiriri in the Winter Hurdles at the old Hutfc racecourse away back in 1900, is still being kept at the game in Auckland. This gelding, who is owned by Mr W. Dhvies, is thought to bo still capable of annexing hurdle events. ' Stone Ginger, who showed up so well in hurdle events at tho Dnnidim J.C. meeting, was at one .time owned by Mr St. J. Buckley, who (disposed of. him for 16 sovs... He 'is a splendidly bred horse, ■T>eing by Lord Boslyn from Komuri, the latter being a sister to Euroclydon, by Gorton—Lady Gertrude. Tho ex-New Zealanders Firederick, by Soult, and Merry Oliver, by M-erriwee, ■won events at the recent Victoria "Park meeting in Sydney.

Neither of those smart fillies, Lady Medalliet or Milan, remains in. the Great Northern Oaks., On recent form tho latter would have possessed a good olance of placing ijhat event .to her owners' credit. - '

Master Soult is in work again at Ellerslio, and this game typo of the thoroughbred appears to be coming on the right way. All lovers of a good horse hope ne will stand tho necessary work to enable him to show some of his old form, and thus make amends for his accident last November.

Kilindini is fiettinfr through some excellent work on, tho Hastings track, and. this filly is expected to carry Mr L. J. Watfs colours in a conspicuous manner in the C.J.C. Easter Handicap. The following: additions have been made to the list of- nominations received for the aufcomn meeting at Trentham : —Waiwetu Handicap. Brid«e King's Prize; Thompson Handicap, King a Prize; Phrnket Nursery. Long-wood; Railway Handicap, Toanga; Hutt Handicap, Kinfr's Prize; Autumn Handicap, lungs Prize and Taimanupo; Pacific Handicap, longwood; Suburban Handicap, Toanga. Guianforte was not entered for the Autumn Handicap.

The first permit to ho)d a race meeting under the'new Gaming Act of last Beesion, which, comes into force on April Ist, was granted by the Minister for Internal Affairs yesterday afternoon to the Bangitata Bacing Club (South Canterbury). Ho difficulty was experienced in. obtaining the necessary permission for this gathering, -which is always a popular outing with - sporting enthusiasts in. the district. _ . The biggest weight ever canriod to victory in a Doncaster Handicap was Marvel's lOet 41b. in. 1892. The famous Mack horse also defeated the biggest field, no leas than thirty-six carrying trilk on that occasion. Trulv, the eon of Marvellous ■wbß well named. ~ His Excellency the Governor will be ■unable .to attend the Easter races of •the Canterbury Jockey Club, owing to previous engagements, but Admiral Sir E.
