MAEOH 14. (Before Ifr W. G. Biddell, S.M.) MISCELLANEOUS CASES. An application for an order against Eliza Jane Stair for fixed contributions towards the maintcnanca of her mother was dismissed. A sentence of twenty-one days' imprisonment was imposed on Martin Pollock for disobeying an order for his child's maintenanoe. Defendent did not appear. For disobeying an order for the maintenance of his wife and two children (arrears £3), John Win. Leslie was sentenced to fourteen days in gaol; order to be suspended as long as 10s a week is paid. Henry Franklin Sylvester was charged with having failed to obey an order for the maintenance of his child. Evidence Bhowod that accused had already served a term of imprisonment for his remissness. Arrears (£22 15a Id) up to the date of imprisonment were wiped off, and defendant was given an opportunity to meet current payments. Five first offenders were convicted of drunkenness. Two were fined 5s each, and three, who did not appear, were fined 10s, in default 24 hours. Frank Eoberts, similarly convicted, was fined 6s. Defendant consented to a prohibition order being issued against him. Hugh Adams, convicted of assaulting Frank Lawson, was fined 40s and ordered to pay 4s witness's expenses, in default fourteen days. Defendant denied his guilt. An order for the payment of' 2a 6d per week towards the Bupport of hia thirteen-year-old son, domiciled in an industrial school, was made against Edward Pointon. Defendant said his earnings averaged 45s weekly. Of his nine children, three were at work and paying for their board, and a fourth had been in employment, but was out of work at present. Three others were at school. Walter Miles, a fruit hawker, was convicted of flailing unsound grapes. A fine of 10s was imposed. Defendant was ordered to pay costs of Court, 7s. For leaving a horse in the roadway unattended, Edward l/ansley was fined 2s and ordered to pay 9s coste. On a similar, ohargo, George Stupples was fined 20s, with costs 7s. ■ ■ . . .
