The wet weather that is being experienced will prove very beneficial to the tracks at Trent ham, which, were in need of a seed soaking to take the sting out of the ground. Bobrikoff has been accepted for in the Doncaster Handicap, and.-Downfall m the Sydney Cup. If the former is quite himself he shoufd keep the opposition moving at the end of the "big mile race on Saturday, despite his big weight of 9st lOlbs. Tho Napier Park meeting, which opens to-morrow-, promises to provide a severe ordeal to the racing public who, take a delight in supporting their fancies. Mr Coyle has gome to some pains in attempting to conceal the winners, and it remains to bo seen how the haudica.pper s adjustments will pan out. The weights for the Waipukurau annual meeting, to be held on- the 2Sth instant, have appeared, and as the adjustments seem to be framed on reasonable lines, there should be a good response from owners when acceptances fall due on Monday next. Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., will give his decision on Fridav next in connection with Die charge against two officials of the Wellington Pony Club. Messrs Gumming and Williams, for refusing to leave the course at Trentham during the progress of the W.R.C. summer meeting. The Maiden Hack Scurry at the Napier- Park meeting to-morrow should be nroductive of a good contest. The Foxton sportsman, Mr F. S. Ea.ston, has engaged his two fillies Lady Moutoa and Moutoa Girl in this event, and the elect of tho stable should keep her opponents very busily engaged. Mr J. H. Pressor, the Porirua trainer, will have his forces divided during tho Easter campaign, as he will have horses running at both the Auckland and Christcburch fixtures. The horses are all in nice trim, and they should worthily represent their owners at the two fixtures. H. Telford, who is attached to the Porirua stable, now heads the list of winning jockeys over hurdles. H. Gray still leads on tho flat, but bo is being closely followed bv A. OlHver, who promises to dispute the supremacy at the end of tho season with the Auckland rider. The San Fran colt Waiau, who is being prepared by the Hastings trainer J. ! Laury, is growing into a useful sort, and there is everv prospect of him making a worthy, addition to the ranks of the racing brigade. Tho gelding Dan Lena, who created such a favourable impression by his forward running at the A.E.C. summer meeting, should keep the opposition busily employed at tho Napier Park meeting. Dan Leno is trained at Greenmeadowß by F. Da.vis, a<nd tho colt is reported to be in capital trim. Last year Woodhev won the Wcodville Cup, ran third in the Dannevirke Cup, and won the Napier Park Cup- This year Parable won the Woodville Cup, ran third in the Dannevirke Cup. Will she do the same as Woodhey? Stevens, who runs in the nomination of Mr F. S. Easfcon, will bo seen out at the Napier Park fixture.' This chestnut gelding has so far proved a disappointment, but his owmer still anticinates picking up a stake ere the season closes. The Hastings trainer, B. Gooseman, baa Waihekua in capital trim, and the Waiuku gelding should give a creditable display in the Sapling Stakes at Napier Park, judged by his meritorious display at the Dannevirke meeting. Acceptances for the first day's events at the Feilding Jockey Club's meeting close with Mir E. Goodbehere at Feilding at 8.30 o'clock to-night. The Lincolnshire Handicap, the first big race of the season in England, will' be run at Lincoln to-day. This race was founded in 1853, when Caurire won it. It has always been a popular event, and oceasionallv very-large fields have competed for it. In to-day's race Dean Swift is in pride of place with 9st libs opposite his name. The Grand National Steeplechase is set down for decision next Friday at Aintree, near Liverpool. . The top weights are Jerry M. and Caokler. with last Tibs, while the French horse, Luttour 111, has 3lbs less. Late English files suggest that a very large field will face the starter.
